Second Star Privacy Policy
Second Star Ventures LLC (“Second Star,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) operates the Second Star website, mobile application, and related services (collectively, the “Service”). Second Star is an independent Disney discovery and trip-planning app that tells you what matters, helps you decide what to do, and connects it all to your next Disney trip. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, how we share it, and the choices available to you when you use the Service. By using the Service, you acknowledge the practices described in this Privacy Policy.
1. Information We Collect — We collect information you provide directly to us, information generated through your use of the Service, and information provided by certain third-party services. Account Information: When you create a Second Star account, we may collect your email address, authentication information, account identifiers, and account creation and authentication activity. Your password is handled through our authentication provider and is not stored by Second Star in plain text. Profile and Onboarding Information: Second Star allows users to create a personalized profile and tell us about their Disney interests and planning preferences. Depending on the features you use, this may include traveler profile information; Disney favorites; favorite parks, attractions, resorts, dining, events, transportation, or characters; content interests; trip preferences; trip stage or planning stage; recommended-audience preferences; and other preferences you voluntarily provide through onboarding or profile features. This information is used to personalize the Second Star experience and help surface content that may be more relevant to you. Saved and Planning Information: If you use features that allow you to save or organize content, we may collect information about saved content, saved resources, planning preferences, trip-related selections, and other information you intentionally save within the Service. Technical and Usage Information: When you use the Service, certain technical information may be collected automatically, including device type, operating system, app version, browser type when applicable, IP address, approximate location derived from IP address, log information, authentication and session information, and information about how features are used. We use this information to operate, maintain, secure, troubleshoot, and improve the Service. Communications: If you contact us, we may collect the information you provide, including your email address and the contents of your communication. We may also send transactional communications such as account verification emails, password-reset emails, security or account notices, and important service communications. We do not use transactional account emails as a substitute for permission to send unrelated marketing communications.
2. How We Use Information — We may use information we collect to create and maintain your account; authenticate your identity; provide the Second Star Service; personalize your experience; remember your preferences; provide recommendations and relevant content; save and display content you choose to save; provide trip-planning and discovery features; operate and maintain the Service; diagnose technical problems; protect against fraud, abuse, and unauthorized access; communicate with you about your account; improve our products, content, and services; comply with legal obligations; and enforce our Terms of Use. We may also use aggregated or de-identified information for analytics, research, and product improvement where the information can no longer reasonably be used to identify you.
3. Personalization — A core purpose of Second Star is to make Disney-related discovery and planning more useful to each user. We may use information you voluntarily provide, including your interests, favorites, planning stage, and preferences, to personalize Discover content, editorial content, recommendations, resource discovery, planning information, and other features of the Service. We do not use your profile information to make decisions about your eligibility for credit, employment, housing, insurance, or other similarly significant services.
4. Third-Party Service Providers — We use third-party service providers to help us operate Second Star. These providers may process information on our behalf for authentication and account management, database and application infrastructure, content and data management, email delivery, website hosting and infrastructure, security and technical operations, analytics, and service improvement. Our current technology and service providers may include providers such as Supabase, Airtable, Resend, Framer, and related infrastructure providers, depending on the particular Service feature. Third-party providers are permitted to process information only as reasonably necessary to provide their services to us and are subject to their own terms and privacy policies.
5. Third-Party Links and Services — Second Star contains links to websites, businesses, travel providers, retailers, social-media accounts, and other third-party services. When you follow a link to a third-party website, that third party’s privacy policy and terms govern your interaction with that service. Second Star does not control the privacy practices of third parties.
6. Affiliate Relationships — Some links within Second Star may be affiliate or referral links. If you click certain links and subsequently make a qualifying purchase or transaction, Second Star or a partner may receive compensation. Examples may include links to travel planning services, vacation rental services, retailers, and other third-party products or services. Affiliate relationships do not change the price you pay unless otherwise disclosed by the third party.
7. Advertising and Marketing — Second Star may provide links or recommendations to third-party products, services, or businesses. At this time, Second Star does not sell your personal information to advertisers. If our advertising or marketing practices change materially, we will update this Privacy Policy and, where required, provide additional choices or notices.
8. Cookies and Similar Technologies — Our website and Service may use cookies, local storage, pixels, logs, or similar technologies to maintain functionality, remember preferences, authenticate users, understand website and application usage, and improve performance and security. You may be able to control certain cookie or similar technology settings through your browser or device. Some functionality may not operate properly if certain technologies are disabled.
9. How We Share Information — We may share information with Service Providers: vendors that provide infrastructure, authentication, email, hosting, analytics, security, or other services necessary to operate Second Star; with Third Parties at Your Direction: when you intentionally interact with a third-party service or follow a link to a third-party provider; and for Legal Reasons: when reasonably necessary to comply with applicable law, respond to lawful requests, protect our rights or property, protect the safety of users or others, investigate fraud, abuse, or security issues, or enforce our agreements. Business Transactions: If Second Star Ventures LLC is involved in a merger, acquisition, financing, restructuring, sale of assets, or similar transaction, information may be transferred as part of that transaction, subject to applicable law. We do not sell personal information as a business practice.
10. Data Retention — We retain personal information for as long as reasonably necessary to provide the Service, maintain your account, provide requested functionality, meet legal or contractual obligations, resolve disputes, prevent fraud or abuse, and enforce our agreements. When information is no longer reasonably necessary for these purposes, we may delete, anonymize, or de-identify it. Some information may remain in backups for a limited period after deletion.
11. Account Deletion — You may request deletion of your Second Star account and associated personal information. Second Star will delete information associated with your account that we are not required or permitted to retain under applicable law. Important: Because Second Star supports account creation, the Second Star app provides a way for users to initiate account deletion from within the app. If you are unable to access the account-deletion function, you may contact us at admin@secondstar.com. We may need to verify your identity before processing a deletion request.
12. Your Privacy Choices — Depending on where you live, you may have rights regarding your personal information, which may include rights to access information we maintain about you; correct inaccurate information; request deletion; request information about how your information is used; object to or restrict certain processing; withdraw consent where processing is based on consent; and receive a copy of certain information. You may exercise applicable rights by contacting us at admin@secondstar.com. We will process requests in accordance with applicable law.
13. Children’s Privacy — Second Star is not directed toward children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we learn that we have collected personal information from a child under 13 without appropriate authorization, we will take reasonable steps to delete it.
14. Security — We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards designed to protect information against unauthorized access, loss, misuse, alteration, or disclosure. However, no method of transmitting or storing information is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
15. International Users — Second Star may use service providers that process information in the United States or other jurisdictions. If you access Second Star from outside the United States, your information may be transferred to and processed in jurisdictions that may have different data-protection laws than your jurisdiction.
16. Changes to This Privacy Policy — We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make changes, we will update the Effective Date at the top of this policy. If we make material changes, we may provide additional notice where required by applicable law.
